Prima Esperanza’s sire Popeye stands at Hilltop Farm. Popeye is the result of many generations of selective breeding for the ultimate sport pony, Popeye showed his quality early on. He began his competition career in Germany, earning scores as high as 9.0 in materiale classes. At his Stallion Performance Test, Popeye finished fourth overall with an 8.3. His score highlights include a 9 and 9.5 for his walk and a well-deserved 9 for character. Summit Sporthorses presented Popeye to ISR/Oldenburg while he was still in Germany and he received his lifetime approval in 2006. His Stallion Index scores of 227.5 points rank him among the top 20 of all ISR/OldenburgNA stallions (horses & ponies).

Popeye moved to Hilltop Farm in the summer of 2007 for training and was first shown at the Fair Hill Breed Show where he won Stallions 4 & Older class, the Stallion Championship, and the Mature Horse Championship. These wins qualified him for the USDF/GAIG East Coast Stallion Final to be held at Dressage at Devon. Under the lights in the Dixon Oval, Popeye impressed both the spectators and the judges and was the Reserve Champion of the USDF/GAIG East Coast Stallion Final. He returned the next day to in the Westfalen class with a score over 80% – one of the highest of the entire weekend.
In 2008 Popeye had an excellent show season at Second Level, including winning the East Coast Pony Cup at Saugerties, earning a Reserve Championship at the USDF Region 1 Finals, and finishing the season with multiple USDF All-Breeds Awards. 2009 was a training year for Popeye as he stayed at home to polish the Third and Fourth Level work instead of competing heavily as he had done the previous year. In 2010 Popeye showed at Third and Fourth Level with scores into the 70s and was 1st for Westfalen All-Breeds Awards at Third Level. He consistently earns an 8 on gaits and was Reserve Champion at Fourth Level for the 2011 BLM Finals. To showcase his versatility, Popeye began eventing in the fall of 2012. He easily tackled Novice courses and moved to Training Level in the fall of 2013.
Popeye’s pedigree represents some of the finest German sport pony bloodlines. His sire, FS Pour l’Amour was Champion of both his Licensing and his Performance test. He competed in the Bundeschampionat three times and has sired numerous Bundeschampionat qualifying offspring; he also has a number of approved sons, including Piccolo and Panco, and has several highly decorated mares to his credit. FS Pour l’Amour’s grandsire Power Boy is standing at Flyinge, the Swedish National Stud and is the sire of the famous Power and Paint. Power and Paint has been a Bundeschampionat winner, Silver Medal winner at the European Championships, and six-time National Champion in Holland.
Popeye’s dam, Nice Touch, a Westphalian breeding federation show winner, is a States Premium mare by Night Star I. She has produced four St. Premium daughters in addition to Popeye. Night Star I, won his licensing and placed second at the Bundeschampionat for show jumping ponies in 1987. He has sired approved stallions, including North Star and Nanuc, States Premium mares, and Bundeschampionat winners such as Night Dream.

Corlando x Victorian Gold

Foaled: May 22, 2009

Color: Bay

Breed: Oldenburg

Registries: ISR Oldenburg NA

Charity is a correct and feminine mare, with a lovely head and neck. She has three good gaits, with lots of spring and elasticity. Charity has been lightly started under saddle. She has had 60 days of professional training, and is walk, trot, canter, and confident over small fences. She is supple, has a soft mouth, and moves easily off your leg. She has a kind and willing temperament. She has a natural flying change. She is brave and shows tons of scope in the jump chute. She has the talent, athleticism, and pedigree for jumpers, or dressage, and the brains for the equitation or hunter ring. She is a solid 17.1h and still growing.

Charity’s sire is the 17h dark bay Holsteiner Stallion Corlando.

From the Triad Farm Website:
Origin: Corlando’s sire Calypso II descends from the legendary Anglo-Norman, Cor de la Bryere. He is quoted as being “one of the few genuinely impressive stallions of German competition horse breeding and one of the greatest Holstein foundation sires following the 2nd World War .” He is highly integrated in the pedigrees of some of the best Hanoverians and Holsteiners, exceeding 200 daughters, numerous approved sons, and countless performance horses. His impressive stature and kind temperament were prepotent in his progeny, the most influential being Calypso I & II, Calando, Caletto I &II, Cicero, and Corrado I. Calypso II is clearly his father’s son and is accredited for producing jumping horses of insurmountable scope and ability. He produced Contender, whom was the undisputed winner of the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test and the sire of MANY approved sons. Interestingly, both Contender and Corlando carry Ramiro in their dam’s pedigree!

Ramiro is another legend seemingly needing no introduction. As with Cor de la Bryere, he is seen in the pedigrees of today’s most accomplished breeding and performance horses. It is often said among breeders that “you can never have too much Ramiro.” He was a successful international showjumper under rider Fritz Ligges and stamped his get with the finest of jumping abilities. It is not to go un-mentioned, however, that he was also a fine sire of dressage horses. Rinaldo, one of Ramiro’s 70+ approved sons, sired a dressage Derby winner in 1987, as well as Corlando’s dam Navenna.

History/Performance: Corlando’s performance scores designate him a Class I stallion, with above average individual scores, including a highly regarded 10 for jumping ability undersaddle!

1988 Performance test in Adelheidsdorf
Overall Score 120.78 (10th/56)
Dressage 112.78 (14th)
Jumping 132.18 (5th)

Corlando succeeded at the Bundeschampionate twice, as well in show jumping to S-level(4’11). He has a total of 3,650 € in winnings. As per the FN in 2002 he had a breed value of 109 in dressage and 127 in jumping with a high security level of 92%. In 2004 The United States Equestrian Federation ranked Corlando 6th out of 4,000 for production of successful jumping offspring in the US, only to be supersceeded by such giants as Voltaire, Burgraff and a few other top stallion.

While in Germany, Corlando stood the majority of his breeding career in the Oldenburg region, specifically at the prestigious Breeding Station Vorwerk where he was acknowledged as “A Holsteiner in splendid form–first class in line, elegance and type. Corlando possesses dynamic, effective movement and demonstrated exceptional class in his first jumping tests. He achieved performance class one at his stallion performance test at Adelheidsdorf in 1988. Though his pedigree is heavily weighted toward jumping, he also has a high blood reservoir for dressage capability. His grand dam Tabelle, is a full sister to Salmei, the dam of Olympic winner and World Champion, Granat. Grandsire Rinaldo influenced the appearance of Corlando to a high degree and also in dressage points. Rinaldo produced the 1987 Dressage Derby winner, “Robby.” Corlando’s ancestors have contributed the full array of genes for success in both disciplines. He was twice Bundeschampionate and a successful show jumper to S-level. Since 1994 his offspring are regularly successful at Federal Championships in jumping and dressage. At the Vechta Special, a Corlando offspring out of an Inschallah mare tied for first place.”

Charity’s dam Victorian Gold is a 17 h + buckskin Oldenburg Mare Book & KWPN COP mare by Dream in Gold (TB) out of Lacewing (Rolls Royce)

From the Gold Hope Farm website:
Dam of Victorian Gold- Lacewing-1993 BAY MARE, 17.2H, Marebook reg. & branded, Dutch warmblood (NA/WPN) by Rolls Royce and out of Edwina by Orpheus (r). Lacy’s sire, Rolls Royce, is a dressage and jumping performer that stood at Iron Springs Farm and was repatriated to Europe. Lacewing has produced Promised, a filly by Wanroij that was a 1998 NA/WPN Keuring Top Ten Yearling & a 2000 USDF Sport Horse Breeders Champion Young Horse & show Grand Champion (her picture is cover of April, 2000 USDF Connection).
